Cloud-based storage

Thursday, 16 April, 2009

Atmos, a cloud computing-based infrastructure offering, is now available.

The service is a multi-petabyte information management solution designed to help customers manage the distribution of unstructured information across global, cloud storage environments.

It combines large storage capacity and scalability with policy-based information management software to automatically distribute information to anywhere at any time.

It enables telecommunications and media companies to build and deliver cloud-based information-centric services and applications, by providing the capabilities of centralised management and automated placement of information globally.

Users can define policies that determine how information is distributed and handled on a global basis. Additional services, such as compression and de-duplication, are included in the service, as are multi-tenant and web API features, such as REST and SOAP.

This allows service providers to build applications that offer secure online services, ‘pay-for-use’ and other models.

Companies can also use these features for global distribution, management and retention of digital media assets.
