Ian Gardiner honoured by winning Pearcy Award

The co-founder and CEO of a NSW online video company, Ian Gardiner, of the Pyrmont-based Viocorp, has been awarded the 2009 NSW Pearcey Award for ICT leadership.

The Minister for State Development, Ian Macdonald said Gardiner, 38, has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the ICT sector by successfully building Viocorp into a globally-competitive business and running technology start-ups over a period of 12 years.

“On behalf of the state government I extend my congratulations to Ian Gardiner - a very worthy winner of this year’s NSW Pearcey Award,”  Macdonald said.

“The mid-career award is given each year to a NSW person who has demonstrated ICT industry leadership and innovative, pioneering and entrepreneurial achievement.

“The Pearcey Foundation and Pearcey Award are named in honour of Australian computer pioneer Dr Trevor Pearcey, who pioneered and conceived Australia's first and the world's fourth digital computer here in Sydney between 1947 and 1949.

“Viocorp’s main product Viostream is a software as a service (SaaS) digital media publishing platform which allows users to publish video, audio and images directly to audiences via the internet,” Macdonald said.
