BT IP Exchange platform

Wednesday, 09 June, 2010

The IP Exchange platform is a wholesale service that enables communications providers to connect VoIP to VoIP and VoIP to traditional voice calls, designed specifically for the global communications market.

Users can connect to the company’s IP Exchange hubs using different access methods including the MPLS network with points of presence in over 170 countries.

In addition to the termination of voice minutes, the service provides video and data traffic across a range of standards and configurations. A pre-pay facility allows operators to grow their businesses quickly without the need for upfront deposits, and a range of services including hubbing and transaction management services is being developed.

The interface between Ribbit and the platforms leverages software development, enables quick proof of concept, improved time-to-market and lower development costs for IP-based applications.

For mobile network operators, the platform offers mobile GSM signalling over IP (SIGTRAN) and the service delivers IP-originated text messages and signalling to over 600 mobile operators using the company’s multiprotocol label switching access.
