Unified communications suites

Thursday, 16 April, 2009

The Mitel unified communications (UC) portfolio is packaged under a role-based software licensing approach.

The product’s licensing approach is intended to simplify UC implementations, providing pre-integrated applications and bundles.

The ‘basic’ user licence is recommended for shared phones or for people who require typical IP phone features only. The ‘standard’ licence adds unified messaging and productivity features such as click-to-call and is suitable for employees with high dependence on phone communications.

The ‘advanced’ licence adds to the standard capabilities with presence, instant messaging, mobile phone integration, web conferencing and collaboration. It’s suitable for sales staff, executives and others whose accessibility is key to the organisation.

The UC offerings are available in ‘express’, ‘advanced’ and ‘mobile’ configurations.

Express is a desktop UC client that includes click-to-call functionality, caller ID pop-up and Active Directory integration.

The ‘advanced’ offering integrates presence, secure IM, audio conferencing and video and data collaboration.

The ‘mobile’ option makes it easier for users to reach employees by providing a single number and single mailbox regardless of the device being used. Users have access to enterprise telephony features and directories and continue to project their telephony presence while mobile.
