Local councils across New South Wales will be able to speed their internal process reviews and minimise reliance on external consultants through use of service auditing tools launched today.

Designed to reduce the complexity of service reviews at every level of the organisation, the RevuMap application – offered through a partnership between local-government advisory body Local Government Professionals Australia and performance-management software vendor CAMMS – has been designed specifically for NSW councils, according to the companies.LGPA-NSW

This type of solution “for professionals in the local government sector that would normally cost councils significantly more in time and money if they were to rely on an expert consultant,” Barry Smith, LG Professionals president for NSW, said in a statement, “or if they were to use the current methods available to review council services and processes.”

The system has already been tested at Hunter's Hill Council, Albury City Council, and Tamworth Regional Council and has, according to CAMMS managing director Joe Collins, been based on a “superior end to end conceptual framework” built around improving long-term sustainability and “well informed decision making”.

As a specialist in applied analytics, CAMMS has provided process review capabilities that have been tailored to the needs of NSW councils. This approach will, the companies say, facilitate service reviews, business improvement, benchmarking and process management improvements.

The focus on NSW state councils has been modelled in the software, with the two organisations working together to tailor RevuMap “to help councils first identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and therefore, [to] give councils the knowledge and framework to improve their processes themselves.”
