SMS to replace ACT's school admin system
The ACT Education Directorate has awarded SMS Management & Technology an $8.7 million contract to replace the Territory’s existing separate school administration systems with an integrated enterprise platform.
Once complete, the new platform will replace all 87 standalone instances of a server-based administration system with a centralised system covering all 45,000 of the territory’s students.
The six-year contract encompasses advisory and managed services — including training, change and project management and ongoing support services — as well as the provision of specialised third-party software. It includes a provision for a further four-year extension.
SMS will implement a web-based enterprise system that will be designed for use by students, staff and parents. The system will encompass software for school administration, timetabling, financial management.
“We are delighted to be partnering with the ACT Education Directorate by providing a full end-to-and service in relation to this initiative,” SMS CEO Rick Rostolis said.
“Our experience in both the government and education sectors, together with the support of our software partners, will allow us to deliver a solution that meets the needs of teachers, parents and staff, while aligning with the innovation agenda of the ACT Education Directorate.”
