Digital Transformation Agency formally established

The government's new Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) has been formally established after securing approval from the Governor General.

The existing Digital Transformation Office has been transformed into the DTA as part of an overhaul first announced earlier this month.

As part of its expanded role, the DTA will take responsibility for providing strategic and policy leadership on whole-of-government and shared ICT and digital services.

In addition, the agency will design, deliver and monitor policies, standards services and deliver platforms for shared service delivery, and manage a whole-of-government ICT program management office which will oversee all significant ICT and digital investments.

The agency's interim CEO Nerida O'Loughlin commented that she was excited by the opportunities ahead for the new agency.

"The shape of the agency will continue to change over coming weeks as we finalise the scope of the DTA's expanded functions," she said.

"I would like to congratulate the DTO on its significant achievements over the past year and I look forward to working with the team to implement the government’s exciting digital transformation agenda."
