GovDC program sees update of Unanderra Data Centre

The Unanderra Data Centre has just been expanded due to growing demand.

An additional two data halls have been added to the two existing halls, which reached capacity by mid-2017.

The construction process, in partnership with Metronode as part of the NSW Government’s data centre program (GovDC), took approximately nine months and is now ready for tenants.

Businesses are quickly recognising the value and benefits of GovDC facilities with agencies like NSW Health, Transport for NSW and Hunter Water migrating into the new top-tier facility.

Simon Geraghty, executive director of government technology platforms, said the construction of a new building demonstrates the success of the GovDC program.

“I’m thrilled to see the growing demand for our government data centres in NSW. This is proof that we’re providing market-leading services that are valued by our tenants,” said Geraghty.

“This is another example of a successful whole-of-government program as we continue to lead the nation in safe and secure data management.”

Geraghty said GovDC has responded to the increase in demand and upgraded its already world-class services.

“We’ve integrated technology developments and customer feedback into this new building, creating a more functional but equally secure data centre. The new building has introduced next-generation BladeRoom air cooling technologies to help with ventilation,” he said.
