Govt to review NDIS payment portal hiccups

The federal government has revealed plans to conduct a review into the implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme’s (NDIS) MyPlace claims portal following data migration issues that left many disability service providers waiting weeks for payments.

According to media reports, issues with the migration of payments data even forced some service providers to turn away NDIS customers due to payment delays.

The MyPlace portal is designed to allow healthcare and other providers to lodge claims directly after providing services to NDIS recipients.

Minister for Social Services Christian Porter acknowledged the delays issuing payments, which he attributed to issues including difficulties uploading provider data to the new portal.

“The agency has now advised that the main issues have been rectified and outstanding payment requests are being prioritised,” he said.

“However, while the government has now been assured the central issues have been resolved, it is now appropriate that a full review is conducted to determine how and why the problems arose so we can be confident that they will not reoccur.”

He said the review is expected to be completed by the end of August.
