Museums conference showcases Melbourne
Methods for engaging future generations in the world’s museums will be explored at the MuseumNext conference in Melbourne.
Hosted by ACMI at Federation Square, the conference will showcase iconic Melbourne locations including the Arts Centre Melbourne, Melbourne Museum, The Grainger, State Library Victoria and Heide Museum of Modern Art.
“Hosting MuseumNext in Melbourne this week is a major coup for Victoria and our reputation as Australia’s cultural hub,” said Minister for Creative Industries Martin Foley.
“Our museums play a central role in the cultural life of our state, which is why it is so important that we continue to attract these events here that will help drive creativity and provide quality and engaging exhibits to attract future generations for decades to come.”
Melbourne’s museums are recognised globally for their innovation excellence with ACMI’s ‘Game Masters and DreamWorks Animation: The Exhibition’ series in high demand for international tours and Melbourne Museum’s ‘Jurassic World: The Exhibition’ having huge success showcasing world-leading animatronics.
Coinciding with the event, and just in time for White Night Melbourne festivities, VicFreeWiFi access points have now been turned on around the Melbourne Museum precinct as part of the Victorian Government’s $11 million Wi-Fi Pilot providing a free Wi-Fi service to visitors across Melbourne’s CBD.
The conference will run from 15–17 February.
