NAA Digital Excellence awards open for application

The National Archives of Australia is now taking applications from government agencies for the 2018 Awards for Digital Excellence.

The award is an annual program open to all Australian Commonwealth agencies that seeks to recognise effective digital initiatives that showcase significant progress towards the Digital Continuity 2020 whole-of-government approach to digital information governance.

Applicants have been asked to submit case studies that describe significant progress towards the 2020 target, such as by improving agency accountability through information governance or building a culture that values digital information.

The awards are divided into four categories — agencies with up to 200 staff; agencies with 200 to 1000 staff; agencies with over 1000 staff; and outstanding individual champions of information management reform within the APS.

“These awards celebrate agencies that are leading the way with digital transformation initiatives aimed at increasing public access to information online, including records of government policies and decisions,” National Archives Director General David Fricker said.

“By awarding top government innovators, the Archives commends best practice digital management of our valuable information.”

Submissions close 28 February 2018 and the winners will be announced at the start of next year’s Information Awareness Month in May.
