UK's Digital Marketplace developing G-Cloud 9

The UK's Digital Marketplace is making improvements to its G-Cloud procurement portal to help improve the experience for buyers and sellers.

The marketplace team is introducing G-Cloud 9 (G9), which is expected to replace the existing G-Cloud frameworks by the end of May. Sellers will need to apply for G9 to continue selling cloud services on the Digital Marketplace.

The G9 framework has redesigned the lot structure to reduce confusion. Services will be divided into cloud hosting, cloud software and cloud support services.

In addition, the categorisation of services is being expanded in an attempt to create a common language between buyers and sellers surrounding the requirements for a cloud service.

Sellers will also be able to provide more details about their security capabilities and processes, with the questions asked to each seller while listing a service redesigned to be more specific to the services on offer. Sellers will now also be able to edit their listings on the Digital Marketplace online.

Along with these changes, the Crown Commercial Service will increase its management charge for G-Cloud 9 from 0.5% to 0.75% of all charges billed by the supplier to the buyer.
