Vic grants Civica $200m managed services deal

Victoria’s Department of Justice and Regulation has awarded software application, digital solutions and managed services provider Civica a $200 million contract to help support the administration of the state’s new fines system.

The five-year contract will involve the supply of platform-based business process services, including the operation of contact centre, operational support and outbound correspondence services.

Civica was selected for the contract in an an open tender process. The company was also separately awarded a contract to provide the software for the Victorian Infringement and Enforcement Warrants system last year.

Gary Bell, executive director of Civica’s outsourcing division, said the contract represents the company’s first business process services contract in Australia and its largest contract win to date.

“Our team is skilled at implementing digital technology alongside specialist transformation expertise to deliver an improved service at scale, and we look forward to bringing on board a large number of people and welcoming them to the Civica family with a real focus on delivering for the state,” he said.

The Victorian government’s Fines Reform Act was introduced in 2014 to unify, streamline and centralise the approach to the management of unpaid fines.

The introduction of the Act was delayed by 18 months after the infringement management and enforcement system project stalled, which was the result of former vendor Tenix Solutions terminating its contract in 2015.
