SAP aims to close workplace gender gap

Women who are trying to re-enter the workforce after a career break will be supported by SAP’s new Back-to-Work initiative.

The program enables professional women to reintegrate into the workforce by offering a range of project-based assignments, which may eventually turn into full-time work.

SAP is looking to attract women from a range of professional backgrounds, and successful candidates will be assigned to projects that complement their skills and experience. The candidates will need to have at least three years of continuous work experience before leaving the workforce for a minimum of two years.

Each assignment will last six months and work will take place on-site or virtually depending on the nature of the project. SAP will provide participants with competitive remuneration, flexible work arrangements when possible and the necessary support they need to integrate into the workplace. In addition to networking opportunities, a project mentor will be on hand to guide participants through the process.

“According to the 2016 World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report, Australia has slipped down to 46th place from 36th in 2015,” said Adaire Fox-Martin, president, SAP Asia Pacific and Japan.

“Back-to-Work will create supported employment routes for highly qualified and experienced talent, and we hope this initiative will encourage talented female professionals to rejoin the workforce.

“Many of these professional women, who may have left the workforce to look after their families, are often highly qualified and experienced.”

SAP believes that a diverse and inclusive workforce paves the way for innovation, encourages employee engagement and supports business growth. It also allows them to better meet and understand the needs of their customers.

More information on job opportunities and the application process is available on the Back-to-Work website.
