Tuesday, 27 September, 2011

EMC has announced the release of its latest ProSphere storage resource management (SRM) offering.

ProSphere is intended to address the needs of enterprises as they migrate to virtualised, cloud-based computing models.

New attributes include agentless discovery, ‘smart groups’ policy management and integration with the latest EMC and VMware storage and virtualisation technologies, to help users to streamline the management of next-generation storage infrastructures.

Features include: agentless discovery to eliminate the burden of installing and managing host agents; ‘smart groups’ technology to streamline policy management by allowing users to group and manage objects with similar characteristics; federated architecture that supports end-to-end, multisite management from a single pane of glass regardless of location; browser-based user interface that provides a complete end-to-end view; near real-time monitoring and analysis to provide up-to-date and detailed views of service levels; reduced hardware requirements, reducing the number of physical servers to run the application by up to 75% compared to its predecessor.
