Cortana comes to Australian Android

Cortana will now be available on Android in Australia, according to Microsoft.

Currently available in the Android Store, the functionality of Cortana on Windows 10 can now be extended to any smartphone running the Android operating service.

Interacting with Cortana will be available straight from the lock screen. All information can be accessed by simply swiping, with Cortana providing lock screen easy access to functions including weather updates, commute time, calendar overview and the ability to view and set reminders.

Android users will also gain access to reminders, with Cortana keeping track of the things they need to remember across all platforms. It is possible to set a reminder on the PC and get it on a mobile phone.

In addition, the Cortana app allows users to receive a missed call alert on their Windows 10 PC and for Cortana to send a text back letting the caller know that they will be in touch later.

The technology is optimised for mobile.
