Tellabs SmartCore 9100 platform LTE evolved packet core

Friday, 11 February, 2011

With the expected growth in mobile data traffic, Tellabs’ SmartCore 9100 platform LTE (long term evolution) EPC (evolved packet core) can help provide flatter, faster networks.

As an LTE SGW (serving gateway) and PGW (PDN gateway), the platform, with its integrated deep packet inspection, granular quality of service and traffic management architecture, enables operators to monitor real-time traffic, enforce advanced policy and charging models, and generate revenue from new sources.

Because it interworks well with multiple LTE radio/access networks, the platform enables mobile operators to provide a consistent quality of user experience and avoid getting locked into a particular radio/access vendor. The EPC solution can enable greenfield operators to build a next-generation network with good performance, a compact footprint for distributed network design and advanced content awareness to enforce advanced policy and charging models. Current 9100 users benefit from an easy migration from current WiMax or 3GPP solutions to LTE on the same platform.
