GovHack to return in September

The GovHack open data hackathon will be held across Australia on 7–9 September 2018.

GovHack focuses on unlocking the value in open data published by government. Last year, around 3000 people in 36 locations in Australia and New Zealand created 430 projects.

GovHack participants include coders, designers, analysts and others who wants to tap into the vast amount of information made available by governments.

The first GovHack in 2009 was a government-sponsored project from the Gov 2.0 Taskforce organised by John Allsop and Web Directions. Since 2012, it has been an annual volunteer-run competition.

For the 2018 event, the organisers are seeking more volunteers for a variety of roles, calling the opportunity to be involved ‘CV gold’.
