Logan City has an eye on the future

The centrepiece of last week’s $850 million Logan City Council budget is a transformation of one of the city’s oldest buildings, the Kingston Butter Factory, into an innovation hub that will attract entrepreneurs, create new business and host world-class events.

“We believe in the importance of innovation in our city and we’ve put our money where our mouth is with $12 million set aside to upgrade and build an innovation hub inside the Kingston Butter Factory, to help foster entrepreneurship and provide a space for new business and investment,” said Acting Mayor Cherie Dalley.

“This landmark project is indicative of who we are as a city — innovative and exciting while preserving our proud heritage. While we must recognise our past, we also have a firm eye on the future.”

The budget also includes funding for the installation of three 100 kW solar PV systems at council facilities to generate ongoing cost savings and carbon emission reductions.
