Quantum disk-to-disk backup

Wednesday, 25 November, 2009

Quantum has released the DXi6500 series that integrates disk-to-disk backup and restores performance with all leading backup applications, using a simple NAS interface and the company’s deduplication technology.

The series offers a turnkey approach that delivers all the benefits of data deduplication technology with a focus on ROI by, for example, bundling all licensed software features.

The series has five preconfigured appliance models for midrange environments with 3 to 30 TB of primary data.

Each model offers a simple NAS interface, with built-in deduplication and a common replication format with the rest of the DXi series. All models are designed to be installable by the user and larger models can scaled easily by adding capacity on site with no need for a service visit.

The series can be integrated with the leading backup software packages, including NetBackup via Symantec’s OpenStorage API, which provides a single point of management across sites and storage tiers, automating the process of catalogue-aware backup replication and native tape creation. Each model includes Quantum esXpress software, which offers optimised backup for VMware environments.
