Blue Coat tops network forensics market

Blue Coat Systems captured the highest market share within the competitive network security forensics market in 2015, according to research from Frost & Sullivan.

Blue Coat captured a 14% share of the over $1 billion market in 2015 based on the performance of its Blue Coat Security Analytics offering.

Blue Coat Security Analytics focuses on providing the root cause of a security incident, either in real time or during a forensic investigation.

The product supports functions including packet analysis, metadata collection, threat detection and unknown file inspection. It is designed to combine analytics, threat intelligence and network visibility into a single network security forensics platform.

The company was presented with the Frost & Sullivan Market Leadership Award for capturing the highest market share within its industry.

Frost & Sullivan industry analyst Chris Kissel attributed the performance of the offering to Blue Coat’s integrated approach.

“The integration of technologies helps incident response teams establish a ‘system of record’ using full traffic capture and replay capabilities to improve incident resolution and forensics,” he said.

“Additionally, Blue Coat’s Global Intelligence Services enhance the quality and depth of the metadata its Security Analytics draws from for a network security forensics investigation.”
