Pure Gold for SNIA international committee

Clive Gold, the Marketing CTO for EMC Australia and New Zealand, has been appointed the new Chairman of the Storage Networking Industry Association’s (SNIA) International Steering Committee.

Elected to the position by the SNIA Global Governing Board, Gold will be responsible for driving the international agenda for SNIA’s seven regional affiliates as well as ensuring the association adheres to the storage industries’ international standards and requirements.

Commenting on his appointment, Gold said, “I believe that in a fast-moving market such as storage technology, where the rate of innovation is immense, there is a need for an independent organisation that helps drive standards and, thus, grow the adoption of the technologies. I am a technologist at heart, and I believe my continuing role as Vice-Chair of the SNIA ANZ, and appointment to this global role, will enable me to have some impact on the direction and development of data storage technology.”

When asked about the SNIA International Steering Committee’s focus for 2010, Gold said, “Our outlook for 2010 is extremely positive as we look to add further value to the storage industry by providing additional vendor training and certification programs, as well as developing a system which can enable the collaboration and dissemination of intellectual property generated by SNIA globally. We will continue to encourage positive change in the storage market and I’m confident that SNIA will be one of the key drivers of this change in 2010.”

SNIA ANZ is a non-profit industry association for storage and information management vendors, channel partners and end users, all of whom are interested in promoting better understanding of data storage technologies within Australia and New Zealand.

SNIA ANZ is a chapter of the worldwide Storage Networking Industry Association, which is headquartered in the US. Other SNIA chapters exist throughout Western Europe, China, Japan, South Asia, Brazil and India. SNIA ANZ is funded by membership subscriptions.
