Citrix Cloud Solutions and XenServer 5.6

Cloud Solutions allows cloud providers to create services addressing individual business needs. Also announced is XenServer 5.6 to give enhanced virtualisation management capabilities for all elements of server virtualisation. As well, a virtualised delivery infrastructure for Microsoft 2010 applications and NetScaler 90-day Burst Pack licences have been announced.

Cloud Solutions assists cloud providers innovate on an open platform for enterprise customers and targets the seven most common business workloads with an open, flexible approach, making the transition to the cloud faster and simpler. Enterprises can use solutions delivered by leading cloud providers or implement their own.

The XenServer 5.6 addresses the challenges faced by IT administrators when managing virtual environments. Its key features include site recovery, memory optimisation, host power management, role-based administration, and a self-service portal for lab management.

The company’s claimed industry-first virtualised delivery infrastructure for Microsoft 2010 Applications provides ready-to-use application availability, scalability and security. The VPX virtual appliances run on Hyper-V, giving native Windows load balancing, acceleration and security in a flexible range of capacities.

The NetScaler Pay-as-You-Grow Burst Pack allows customers to buy 90-day Burst Pack licences and apply them when sudden traffic surges threaten application performance and availability. The licences can be applied to both NetScaler VPX virtual appliances and NetScaler MPX hardware appliances
