MGM Wireless SchoolStar in-app messaging communications solution

The SchoolStar app by MGM Wireless, which enables schools to deliver secure outbound messages, has been upgraded with a free two-way in-app messaging feature. This feature offers an automatic switch to SMS when delivering important information, including emergencies, if parents have not downloaded the app or if their mobile phone has no mobile data connection.

Since several terror hoaxes have caused lockdowns in schools across Australia, there has been increasing pressure on schools to deliver emergency messaging as well as attendance messaging and school news in a mobile format. The secure communications service eliminates the fear that people outside the school community can access private information such as sports fixtures and student identities.

To access SchoolStar, parents must be registered with their school and complete a two-factor authentication process. The app offers a smooth interface and easy integration path that sits on top of an Address Book and Grouping system that lets schools quickly message anyone, from individual parents to family groups, right through to the entire school. Users can reply through the app or via SMS, which will be shown in a single email inbox for access and response by the school.
