Oracle Sun Fire x86 clustered systems

Monday, 14 March, 2011

Sun Fire x86 clustered systems can be used to enhance enterprise systems for virtualised and private cloud deployments.

With demonstrated good performance for Java applications, the virtualised x86 systems with Oracle Linux and Oracle VM are claimed to deliver up to 48% better TCO than HP with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and VMware.

The systems provide good performance for decision-support and online transaction processing databases, business applications and IT infrastructure running on operating systems including Oracle Solaris and Oracle Linux.

The system is engineered, with its business software and hardware, to deliver application-to-disk solutions that can be managed and supported as a single system with Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g for simplified management.

For faster deployment, the systems are supplied with Oracle Solaris, Oracle Linux and Oracle VM, and provide a completely tested and supported virtualised environment for Oracle software, including the company’s Database, Fusion Middleware and applications.
