Quest Software vFundamentals virtual backup suite

The vFundamentals product suite offers backup, capacity planning and resource optimisation for VMware virtual environments.

The bundle includes the vRanger Pro VMware backup, replication and recovery solution, as well as capacity management and optimisation technology from VKernel’s vOps Server Standard Edition.

The solution provides virtualisation and systems administrators with a scalable solution that helps them to protect, manage and optimise their VMware virtual environments.

vRanger Pro offers virtual data protection. It features parallel job execution, dynamic resource management and Active Block Mapping technology that reduces network payload and storage space requirements, and lets users scale with confidence.

VKernel’s vOps Server Standard Edition simplifies capacity planning by letting users visualise multiple capacity issues, calculate remaining available VM slots, forecast future resource requirements, reserve capacity for planned deployments and predict future capacity bottlenecks.

For resource optimisation, the solution also collects information directly from VMware’s vCenter and analyses thousands of data points across the entire virtual environment, giving users the ability to identify resource efficiency issues, make resource allocation recommendations and automatically resize virtual machines.
