Hitachi Data Systems non-proprietary UC platform

Wednesday, 12 May, 2010

Hitachi Data Systems has announced details of the claimed industry first non-proprietary platform that fuses an organisation’s server, storage and networking requirements.

It enables an organisation to manage its applications without a data centre, eradicating the need to: purchase disks, servers and (virtualisation) software as the business grows; hire enough staff to deploy, configure and manage the data centre; find enough floor space to house the IT infrastructure; pay for infrastructure only partially used.

Hitachi is collaborating with Microsoft to deploy the platform through the cloud or as an on-site cloud service. It will enable organisations to move towards procuring IT as a service - particularly where organisations are deploying a cloud computing strategy. Its benefits include reduced operating and capital costs, less downtime and better IT management.
