Vic Govt signs purchase deal with Google Cloud

The Victorian Government has signed a state purchase contract with Google Cloud as part of efforts to accelerate the digital transformation of the state’s public sector.

The agreement will streamline access to Google Cloud technologies and services for eligible Victorian government agencies. The contract will cover the provision of cloud infrastructure, data analytics, artificial intelligence and other capabilities.

The new agreement with the Victorian Government is part of Google Cloud’s commitment to servicing Victoria, according to Google Cloud Director of Public Sector for Australia and New Zealand Brian Senior. Victoria is home to Melbourne’s cloud region, the second in Australia after NSW, he said.

“Cloud technology plays a critical role in driving innovation — across both national and local levels. We’re proud to collaborate with the Victorian Government to bring the possibilities of the cloud to more public sector organisations,” Senior said. “Together we can build cloud-based solutions that deliver a better digital future for all Victorians.”

Google Cloud already has multiple Australian government agencies as customers, including the Australian Department of Health & Aged Care, CSIRO and Service NSW. The company has been designated a Certified Strategic Provider for Cloud Services under the Australian Government’s Hosting Certification Framework.
