Apple is world's most attractive employer

Apple is the top company in the world in terms of attracting and retaining top talent, an analysis of LinkedIn data has indicated.

The consumer electronics giant’s success lies in part in its strategy of offering restricted stock to the majority of its more that 100,000 employees, including retail employees — a move practically unheard of in the retail world.

Technology companies dominate the list of the 40 top companies for attracting and retaining top talent, with Salesforce, Facebook, Google, Amazon, Microsoft and Uber taking second to seventh place.

Other technology companies featured on the list include Oracle (11th), Adobe (15th), IBM, (20th), Visa (21st), Cisco (22nd), Dell (26th), Huawei, (28th), Schneider Electric (30th), Twitter (32nd), Expedia (33rd) and Accenture (34th).

The top companies have adopted some unique human resources initiatives to stand out from the pack.

These include Salesforce’s decision to build meditation spaces for employees on every floor of its new tower, Facebook’s highly publicised four-month paid parental leave program and Google’s perks program that includes A-list speakers and on-site massages.

LinkedIn’s research shows that Australia’s top employers for retaining and attracting talent are KPMG (1st), PwC (2nd) and Commonwealth Bank (3rd). Coles, Deloitte, Westpac, Qantas, Lion, UGL and CPB Contractors round out the top 10.

“To be considered an employer of choice by LinkedIn’s members is an important part of being an attractive employer,” Schneider Electric Chief Human Resources Officer Olivier Blum commented.
