NEC opens new Australian HQ and innovation centre

NEC Australia has opened its new Australian headquarters and innovation centre in Melbourne’s Docklands.

The new 6000 m2 office will be home to 600 staff. The innovation centre will offer customers hands-on experience with technologies including facial recognition, fingerprint scanning and enterprise mobility.

In addition, the new centre is supported by NEC’s software-defined networking technology to enhance the security, monitoring and visibility of network services.

NEC Australia Managing Director Tetsuro Akagi said the facility has been designed around the principles of activity-based working, to help foster closer collaboration and innovation across all aspects of the business.

“Our new headquarters is a benchmark in design and construction that reflects NEC’s transformation to a high-performance technology services company,” he said.

“It is a living showcase of a modern and flexible activity-based working environment which perfectly illustrates how we orchestrate NEC’s global innovations with local expertise and partnerships to deliver a smarter and safer Australia.”

NEC has been operating in Australia for 47 years. The company has spent over $200 million over the past 15 years on homegrown innovation.
