BAI Communications acquires ZenFi Networks

Australia-based broadcast and communications infrastructure provider BAI Communications is expanding its presence in the North American market with the acquisition of US-based ZenFi Networks.

The shared infrastructure provider will integrate ZenFi networks into its existing operations in the region driven by BAI Group companies Mobilite and Transit Wireless.

ZenFi networks operates over 1100 route miles (1770 km) of fibre network across New York City and has the rights to provide mobile infrastructure across 4000 LinkNYC kiosks across the city. The company also has significant wireless assets in the area including small cells.

BAI Communications group CEO Igor Leprince said the acquisition will perfectly complement Mobilite’s 5G indoor and outdoor infrastructure solutions, as well as the connectivity solutions that Transit Wireless provides across the New York City subway.

“ZenFi Networks is a long-established and high-performing player in the wireless infrastructure sector. As an exciting business with longstanding customer relationships and a reputation for driving innovation, bringing it into the BAI Group is an important step forward in our ongoing push for growth in North America and globally,” he said.

“In the short term, it enhances our regional operations in the Northeast, further extending the reach of current solutions and expertise we have and building on our vision to assist our customers in delivering an enhanced experience at all points of their customers’ journey, from subway to above ground and from work to home.”

Leprince added that the acquisition will help BAI support the increasing appetite for connectivity among businesses across the continent.

In Australia, BAI provides the transmission services for SBS radio and the digital transmission services for Television Sydney, among other such services.
