BSA names Brian Fletcher as APAC Director of Policy
Brian Fletcher is set to help BSA | The Software Alliance achieve key priorities as its new Director of Policy – APAC. Based in Singapore, Fletcher is expected to work with the organisation’s global policy team to “promote policies that instil trust in technology”, particularly in Asia, according to BSA | The Software Alliance President and CEO Victoria Espinel.
“Brian’s experience in the public and private sectors will help us continue to collaborate with governments across Asia to protect consumer privacy, promote the free flow of data across borders and advocate for strong cybersecurity policies,” she said.
The former Symantec Director Government Affairs APJ has led government affairs activities in the region, addressing privacy and personal data protection; cybersecurity, crime and defence; and barriers to cloud computing. Prior to Symantec, Fletcher filled the role of Australian Cyber Security Centre Director, Cyber Security relationships and Washington DC-based Embassy of the Government of Australia Counselor Defence and Cyber Policy. He has also held policy and operational roles in Australia’s Department of Defence, BSA | The Software Alliance reported.
