Data#3 deploys Cisco network for WA's ECU

Data#3 has completed the deployment of a next-generation Cisco network for Western Australia’s Edith Cowan University (ECU).

The company provided services including strategy, design and implementation for the network deployment, which uses Cisco fixed and wireless technologies.

In addition, Data#3’s Managed Services team will manage the new network under a three-year agreement with an optional two-year extension.

Data#3 is a Cisco Gold Partner and was selected from a panel of partners due to the company’s track record with other universities nationwide as well as its local professional services expertise.

ECU operates three campuses in Western Australia and provides tuition to over 27,000 students per year, including 4000 international students from more than 100 countries.

The university will use the network to provide wireless connectivity to students, faculty and staff, and introduce a range of innovative new services.

“The replacement of the existing network with next-generation infrastructure enables the provision of advanced services such as rich multimedia learning experiences to students, faculty and staff across all our campuses, and is a key strategic pillar of the future learning environment at ECU,” the university’s CIO Elizabeth Wilson commented.

Brisbane-headquartered Data#3 has more than 1100 employees across Australia and reported revenues of $870.5 million in FY15.
