nbn now passes 10m premises

The nbn now passes 10 million premises across Australia, with the rollout now 89% complete, the Department of Communications and the Arts has announced.

There are now 5.6 million homes and businesses with an active nbn connection, the department said.

There were 2.9 million households connected during the 2018–19 financial year, and last week NBN Co connected more than 1000 premises to the network per working hour.

Minister for Communications, Cyber Safety and the Arts Paul Fletcher said the rollout is now 89% complete.

“The nbn is the largest infrastructure project ever undertaken in this country and it is on track for completion by mid-2020,” he said.

“NBN Co is constantly improving its services so that connections are fast and reliable.”
