Barracuda launches backup solution for Entra ID

Cybersecurity company Barracuda Networks has introduced a new solution designed to help protect Microsoft Entra ID environments from both accidental and malicious data loss.

Barracuda Entra ID Backup Premium aims to enable fast, reliable recovery of identity data in the event of a breach or issue with the Entra ID platform, a cloud-based identity and access management service for enterprises.

The company says the solution protects the 13 most vital identity components of Entra ID environments, including users, groups, roles, administrative units, app registrations, audit logs, authentication and access policies, BitLocker keys and device management configurations. It has been designed to provide a more long-term method of protecting Entra ID data, which Microsoft retains for only 30 days, and to fulfil Microsoft’s recommendation of third-party backups for Entra ID configurations.

The cloud-based SaaS solution can be connected to a Microsoft 365 tenant and configured to start backing up Entra ID data in a matter of minutes. Additional features include advanced search, real-time monitoring, detailed audit logs, and five levels of role-based access control.

Barracuda Entra ID Backup Premium is integrated into the BarracudaONE AI-powered cybersecurity platform and managed through a single dashboard. The solution is available as a standalone offering or as a subscription with Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup, and is available through Barracuda’s network of resellers and MSPs.

Barracuda Chief Product Officer Neal Bradbury said the platform has been designed to reflect the fact that any disruption to a modern enterprise’s identity management environment can halt operations and expose them to security risks.

“With Entra ID Backup Premium, we are closing a critical gap in the identity protection lifecycle by adding fast, reliable recovery to our proven detection and response capabilities,” he said. “Unlike point solutions that focus only on backup or monitoring, Barracuda delivers a unified, end-to-end approach that makes Entra ID protection simpler, stronger and more resilient so organisations can stay secure, compliant and operational.”
