Barracuda Networks enhances email security suite

Cybersecurity company Barracuda Networks has announced enhancements to its Barracuda Email Protection solution including flexible deployment options. The company says the upgraded platform is now capable of being deployed either inline or through application programming interface integration, to allow the solution to be incorporated into any IT environment.

Inline deployment can be completed either with or without modifying an organisation’s mail exchange records for added flexibility.

Meanwhile the solution has been upgraded to offer proactive account compromise protection. Both inbound and outbound email activity is monitored for early signs of phishing and suspicious behaviour to further defend organisations against account takeover. The platform then proactively alerts administrators to potential threats to help them neutralise risks before they escalate.

The pricing model has also been modified with a range of new plans offering protection on a budget. Under the new model, the core security components of Barracuda Email Protection are included in every plan, including prevention, detection, automated incident response and email authentication.

More premium plans meanwhile offer additional features for additional costs, such as unlimited Microsoft 365 backup, cloud archiving, security awareness training and attack simulation tools.

Barracuda chief product officer Neal Bradbury said with email remaining as the number one attack vector, email security has never been more urgent, especially as attackers have been starting to incorporate AI into their attacks.
