Adaptable modular storage series

Friday, 17 July, 2009

The Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage (AMS) 2000 Series is a mid-range platform that delivers improved performance, connectivity, scalability, reliability and ease-of-use to customers. The 2000 family is one of only a few mid-range storage products with symmetric active-active controllers that provide integrated, automated hardware-based front-to-back-end I/O load balancing.

The AMS 2000 comes with a 3 Gbps serial attached SCSI (SAS) backplane providing a fast, cost-effective way to process and transfer data through a storage controller engine. The company claims this technology curbs the architectural limitations of arbitrated loop designs with support for up to 32 3 Gbps high-performance point-to-point links that deliver a fast 9600 MBps of bandwidth and dramatically speed data transfer.

The Hitachi AMS Series 2000 delivers up to four times the performance compared to prior generations, and also offers storage consolidation for iSCSI, NAS and fibre channel SAN connections. The AMS Series 2000 comprises three models: the AMS 2100, the AMS 2300 and the AMS 2500. The entire portfolio of mid-range storage systems meets the benchmarking standard ‘five 9s’ of availability, 99.999% uptime.
