Interoperability tests success for Huawei

Friday, 12 November, 2010

Huawei, a provider of next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, has announced that its routers have successfully completed internet protocol/multiprotocol label switching (IP/MPLS) and MPLS transport profile (MPLS-TP) multivendor interoperability tests, organised by the European Advanced Networking Test Center (EANTC). Huawei is claimed to be the industry’s first provider to offer a single router series that demonstrates interoperability for both IP/MPLS and MPLS-TP.

During testing, Huawei’s PTN series and CX600 router series, including CX600-X1/X1, the industry’s first 300 mm depth metro service platform, performed successfully in the areas of mobile backhaul capabilities and flexibility. Huawei’s IP Time (IP transport infrastructure for multi-play experience) solution, CX600 and PTN were shown to be advanced in clock synchronisation, end-to-end network protection and IP visualised operations.

Carsten Rossenhoevel, Managing Director of EANTC, spoke highly about Huawei's participation in the interoperability tests, announcing that "Huawei has been actively participating in the EANTC multivendor interoperability tests for years. This time, we are happy to see that Huawei joined our showcase with three product types including the new CX600-X1/X2. Huawei’s products successfully participated in a wide range of interoperability tests with other vendors in both the IP/MPLS and the MPLS-TP domains."

The EANTC interoperability tests were based on the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), International Telecommunications Union (ITU-T), Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and IEEE standards, and focus on mobile backhaul, converged transport, network operations and protection, with scenarios that focused on IP/MPLS and MPLS-TP technologies.

The European Advanced Networking Test Center (EANTC) offers vendor-neutral consultancy and test facilities for network equipment manufacturers, service providers and enterprise customers. Primary business areas include interoperability, conformance and performance testing for IP/MPLS, carrier ethernet and triple play technologies and applications.
