Wednesday, 15 September, 2010

The claimed world’s fastest national mobile broadband service is available with the launch of the Ultimate USB modem across Australian capital city CBDs and associated airports, selected metropolitan hubs and more than 100 regional centres.

With typical download speeds ranging from 1.1 to 20 Mbps in these selected areas, the modem is up to twice as fast as the Next G modem. In other metropolitan and regional areas, the modem offers typical download speeds ranging from 550 Kbps up to 8 Mbps.

The modem allows users to handle large files, multitask and update cloud-hosted applications when they are in a coverage area.

The modem is claimed to be the first commercial USB modem to use the dual channel HSPA+ mobile broadband technology. The modem with its enabling network technology was developed in collaboration with Ericsson, Qualcomm and Sierra Wireless.
