Red Hat expands hybrid cloud portfolio on OCI

Red Hat has expanded the availability of its hybrid cloud portfolio on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to give more options for deploying and procuring its technologies in the cloud environment.

The company has made available Red Hat Enterprise Linux as a first-party offering on the OCI Console, and introduced Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat OpenShift Virtualisation subscriptions through the Oracle Marketplace.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux for OCI enables organisations to deploy pretuned and ready-to-run images of the operating system across OCI private clouds. Red Hat plans in future to add support for distributed cloud environments.

As a first-party offering, the platform provides a standardised path for building, deploying and managing essential applications with integrated management capabilities and observability tooling. Users can access Oracle-specific performance profiles, including images for both Intel and AMD fully virtualised instances. These instances connect directly to Oracle’s integrated monitoring capabilities, as well as the OCI command line interface, API and console.

OCI customers can also receive front-line support for the deployment directly through Oracle Support, and can use Oracle Universal Credits to pay for the platform billed per Oracle CPU-hour, or maintain their existing Red Hat subscriptions. The Red Hat solutions available through the Oracle Marketplace are meanwhile purchasable on a subscription via a Red Hat subscription.

Red Hat and Oracle are meanwhile collaborating to develop Oracle AI Database 26ai for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, 9 and 10, as well as Oracle Real Application Clusters, Oracle AI Database and Oracle WebLogic Server on Red Hat OpenShift Virtualisation.

Red Hat VP for Global Partner Ecosystem Kevin Kennedy said the joint launches are aimed at providing joint customers with a strong, flexible hybrid cloud foundation to help them navigate the complexities of the AI era.

“Through our expanding collaboration with Oracle, Red Hat Enterprise Linux as a first-party offering on OCI and streamlined procurement via Oracle Marketplace, we’re empowering our joint customers to standardise on a trusted, AI-optimised platform. This will help our customers modernise with confidence, wherever workloads reside,” he said.
