Digium Switchvox 5.1 unified communications solution

Tuesday, 27 September, 2011

Digium has released Switchvox 5.1, which adds fixed mobile convergence and further integration with third-party business applications into its VoIP unified communications solution, designed for small to mid-sized businesses.

The release features enhanced mobility, to allow users to integrate any type of phone. Users can select up to six phones of any type, including VoIP, digital, analog, smartphone or a soft phone, to converge with their Switchvox extension and route, record or transfer calls, at any location.

Based on Digium’s open source engine Asterisk, version 5.1 includes more application programming interfaces (APIs) for greater customisation and integration with third-party business applications, giving businesses the ability to leverage their other IT investments, such as CRM, customer support, accounting and ERP systems. It also features an enhanced user interface, more detailed reporting for calls and call queues, and detailed online support.

An included Switchvox mobile app integrates Digium’s Switchvox SMB communications solution with Android, iPhone and BlackBerry devices. Users can: make, receive, transfer and record calls as if they were calling from the office extension; check their call history; view and change call rules, such as routing and forwarding; change their out-of-office greeting; access the company directory; and return calls via email.
