Hurricane Electric establishes PoP at NEXTDC S1

NEXTDC has announced that Hurricane Electric will establish a point of presence for its global IPv4 and IPv6 network at the NEXTDC S1 data centre in Sydney.

The 5800 square metre S1 data centre has a total capacity of 2800 racks and 16 MW of IT load. It is the only data centre in New South Wales to achieve Uptime Institute Tier III Gold certification for operational sustainability, offering a 100% network uptime.

The S1 is also the only data centre in New South Wales to secure a 5-star rating for energy efficiency based on the 6-star scale National Australian Built Environment Rating System (NABERS).

Hurricane Electric now has four PoPs in Australia, including at the Equinix SY1, the Global Switch Sydney East and the Equinix ME1 in Melbourne. The company’s global IPv4 and IPv6 network spans more than 200 exchange points and thousands of customer and private peering points worldwide.

“We are excited to welcome Hurricane Electric to the NEXTDC ecosystem. They are a company on the forefront of innovation for global connectivity, their exciting growth strategy and vision for helping customers to build resilient and reliable networks closely aligns to the commitment NEXTDC makes to our customers,” said NEXTDC Chief Sales Officer Adam Scully.

“Our vision is to empower our customers to leverage the full capability of the digital era. Our partnership with companies like Hurricane Electric enables us to deliver on that promise.”
