RMIT Online partners with IBM on 5G and IoT courses
RMIT Online has partnered with tech giant IBM to upskill Australian workers for the 5G-enabled Internet of Things (IoT) revolution.
Via their IoT Strategy in the Era of 5G and 5G for Business programs, the organisations will prepare IT and business professionals for the rollout of these technologies throughout the country.
Forecast to inject $2.2 trillion into the global economy by 2034, 5G is set to account for 1.8 billion connections worldwide by 2025. Meanwhile, IoT is becoming increasingly pervasive, with IDC predicting the number of IoT devices to reach 41.6 billion globally by 2025.
RMIT Online Chief Executive Helen Souness said these co-designed industry courses will help futureproof businesses and make them resilient to the increased threat of industry disruption.
“For Australians to keep up with the hyperconnectivity that will ensue from the rollout of the 5G network — as well as the emergence of booming technologies like VR and AR — employers will need to understand the technological implications and business impacts from a strategic perspective.
“For education to keep up with the breakneck speed of technology, we’re extremely proud to partner with leaders like IBM to provide students with the essential tools and knowledge they’ll need to handle the technological implications of the 5G rollout,” she said.
The courses are the latest additions to RMIT Online’s Future Skills portfolio, which offers practical tips for making strategic business decisions in a rapidly changing world.
