University of Adelaide to offer IT studies at new Mebourne campus

Victorians hoping to study a Bachelor of Information Technology (IT) or Master of Computing and Innovation through the University of Adelaide will soon be able to do so without having to leave the state.

The university is expected to launch its interstate campus in the Docklands’ Kaplan building in time for Trimester 2, July 2020 and is projected to attract several hundred new students over the coming years, the University of Adelaide said.

Initially open to international students, University of Adelaide Vice-Chancellor Professor Peter Rathjen said the modestly sized Melbourne campus would open up the university’s “innovative, 21st-century education to a growing community of learners”.  

To start with, the campus will offer degrees in IT, commerce, accounting and finance; however, it will “have the capacity to expand its offerings in the future to showcase our areas of specialist knowledge, including wine and artificial intelligence”, Rathjen said.

Academic programs will be designed by the university and taught by Kaplan academic staff, with the university collaborating on quality assurance and assessment, the university said.

Enrolment is now open for 11 degree programs at the new campus.
