1 in 2 Aussies have phone or internet troubles
Nearly 10 million Australians have had a problem with their phone or internet service, according to the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman.
Speaking at the CommsDay Summit yesterday, Ombudsman Judi Jones presented the results of a survey of almost 3000 residential consumers and small business owners.
Jones said that 20% of residential consumers had more than one phone or internet issue in the past 12 months, and 1 in 4 problems were not resolved after 4 months.
The situation was worse for small businesses, with almost 60% saying a phone or internet issue had affected their business.
“Today’s results show us that everyone with responsibility for planning and delivering telecommunications service has to make things better,” said Jones.
“Phone and the internet services are essential services, making a vital difference to families, within communities and to business.
“We all have to be proactive and accessible in managing the issues. We have to listen to residential consumers and small businesses, understand the impact of problems and offer quick, supportive solutions.”
