Buying a PC in the EOFY sales? Don't panic!

The end of the financial year is here, and many business owners are rushing to make last-minute technology purchases to get the most of the tax incentives.

It is important, however, to not panic buy. You must buy the right technology to suit your business needs to truly get value out of the end-of-financial-year (EOFY) sales.

Today we are faced with a huge selection of PCs, laptops, tablets and 2-in-1 devices, but not all of them match our specific needs. Whether you need a device to help you design or to help you write, each device excels at different things.

The way to get the best device for you is to ask yourself the right questions before buying.

What will I use the device for?

Before rushing out to buy, it is vitally important you know which tasks you want your new device to help you achieve. It is easy to just buy the best bargain, but sadly that often won’t fit all your needs and therefore won’t deliver optimum performance.

Does your business need devices for design, for multitasking or for running high-performance business applications? Asking these questions will help you make the best decision and buy the tech that actually changes performance.

For instance, a device that contains Intel Core i5 will deliver power for fast multitasking when you need it. This processor has in-built intelligent performance that accelerates in response to demanding tasks and data-centric applications.

On the other hand, if you often work with high-end design or multimedia tools and need optimum performance at all times, a device with Intel Core i7 will have significant benefits for day-to-day work.

How well do I know what I am buying?

Research new technology purchases like you would a new car. Make comparisons to the different models available in the market. Don’t just focus on researching the best deals available; make sure you take the time to find out what’s under the bonnet of what you are buying as well.

You can still pick up the best product for less — but if you take the time to understand what the different specifications actually mean, you’ll be able to find a product that caters perfectly to your needs without paying for unnecessary extras.

Which PC will give the best performance?

Do you really need that extra RAM, a new graphics card or an external hard drive? You might be surprised to find out that a lot of these add-ons aren’t necessary for the tasks which are important to your business.

The most important component to making sure you can do all of this and more is actually the processor. Choose the best computer processor you can afford at the time, as it will deliver the greatest overall performance improvement now and carry you well into the future as your business needs grow.

Time is running out to make the most out of the EOFY tax incentives, but panic buying could mean not getting the best performance out of your technology.

By arming yourself with these three simple questions, you will ensure you find a great deal that really makes a difference to day-to-day activity.
