Democratisation of AI to be top tech trend in 2023
The democratisation of AI and improved human–robot collaboration will be among the top 10 technology trends for 2023, HCLTech has predicted.
The HCLTech Enterprise Technology Office has released a new report analysing how emerging technologies and innovations will impact the modern enterprise over the next 12–18 months.
The top technology trend for the year will be the widescale democratisation of AI as the amalgamation of powerful new classes of AI enables organisations to overcome challenges posed by the AI skills gap, the report predicts.
For example, generative AI is expected to enable machines to mimic creativity, while sustainable AI will help companies build products and services in a more energy-efficient manner.
Another major trend will be the ongoing growth of multicloud environments, driven by advances in edge computing as well as demand for technologies such as AI in the cloud, the report adds.
HCLTech is predicting that by 2025, enterprises will be spending more on cloud services than traditional IT solutions. There are also predictions that almost 84% of large or mid-size companies will adopt multicloud by 2023, the report adds.
The report also predicts that quantum computing will bring a revolution in cybersecurity with the emergence of quantum-secure communications and quantum machine learning.
HCLTech expects accelerating adoption of low-code and no-code application development platforms driven by a confluence of digital disruptions and hyperautomation. This year HCLTech also expects technologies such as 5G, AI and extended reality to make the ‘metaverse’ a household term being adopted by enterprises.
As 5G rollouts advance, the report expects enterprises to explore how they can take advantage of the technology and communicate its benefits to consumers. In 2023, HCLTech is also expecting the web 3.0 paradigm, driven by blockchain technology, to take hold.
The report predicts that sustainability practices will seep into the grassroots as enterprises look to advance their ESG goals. Enterprises will also seek to transform their HR practices through technology as they seek to upskill employees in diverse domains.
Finally, the report predicts that collaboration between humanoid and assistive robots and human workers will help increase productivity and introduce the capability to safely perform complex and dangerous tasks.
