US OPM seeks new CIO
The US-based Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is hunting for a new permanent CIO in the wake of a major data breach and the resignation of its previous IT chief.
The recruitment drive comes a year after the OPM disclosed a major data breach that resulted in the theft of around 4 million private personnel records, in an attack that remained undetected for more than a year.
The agency has posted a job listing stipulating that it is searching for a candidate to lead its major digital and IT transformation initiatives.
As part of the role, the chosen candidate will have the opportunity to buy, build and deliver best practice technology and cybersecurity tools to support the Office's mission requirements.
Major responsibilities will include establishing performance measures to manage IT strategy and operations, managing the OPM's IT portfolio research planning, as well as planning and implementing modern digital and IT best practices.
The OPM manages the civil service of the US federal government, handling recruitment, retention and the management of security clearances across nearly the entire government.
In February 2016, former permanent CIO Donna Seymour stepped down, leaving the role vacant.
