Australian women recognised in Stevie Awards

Australia's Award Winning Accelerator and the Female Social Network won two of the five Grand Stevie Awards for Women in Business for 2018.

The Grand Stevie Awards went to the organisations that submitted the best body of individual entries to the international Stevie Awards. The 15th annual Stevie Awards saw more than 1500 nominations from organisations and individuals in 33 nations.

Gold Coast-based Award Winning Accelerator, an accelerator designed to help professionals win awards led by publicity specialist Annette Densham and personal branding specialist Lauren Clemett, took the top Grand Stevie Award prize.

The Female Social Network, a professional network for female entrepreneurs founded by behavioural digital strategy company Bendalls Group CEO Fi Bendall, meanwhile came in fourth in the leaderboard.

Around 50 individual gold, silver and bronze awards across various categories were also awarded to Australian female entrepreneurs and businesses.

The Female Social Network and Bendall herself won seven individual awards, including a bronze award in the Women Helping Women — Business category and a silver award in the Female Entrepreneur of the Year — Asia, Australia or New Zealand category.

Australian entrepreneurs in fact took more than half of the gold, silver and bronze awards in the latter category.

The sole gold prize went to Julie Ockerby, CEO of Sydney interior design company Meli Studio, while a second silver award went to Dominique Grubisa, CEO and founder of wealth management company the DG Institute.

Bronze awards went to Danelle Hunter, Managing Director of real estate company Biggin & Scott Knox, and independent small business consultant Angela Henderson.

As well as Bendall, there were another four Australian women in the Women Helping Women — Business category, including the sole gold winner Anita Bentata, the founder of Activating Artemis, an advocacy group aimed at reducing domestic violence.
