Cloudera and Mistral partner on sovereign AI capabilities

Data and AI platform Cloudera has partnered with AI lab Mistral to bring sovereign AI-powered intelligence capabilities to enterprise data. The collaboration will combine Mistral’s frontier AI models and capabilities with the Cloudera hybrid data and AI platform to allow enterprises to securely build, customise and run AI models using their own private data.

Enabling inferencing to be run privately will remove the need for enterprises to expose sensitive data. AI tools will be customisable using proprietary data and AI applications can be deployed and run within an organisation’s existing security and governance boundaries.

AI models and applications can be run across up to 30 exabytes of data, and models and applications can be deployed across public, private, on‍-‍premises and air‍-‍gapped environments. Enterprises will meanwhile be able to choose deployment models and infrastructure that best fit their workloads and needs.

Mistral’s Forge system enables enterprises to build frontier-grade AI models based on their proprietary models, and the partnership will enable developers and practitioners to build AI‍-‍powered experiences using private enterprise data without exposing sensitive data and IP to external environments.

The two companies also plan to collaborate on the development of advanced AI capabilities at the network edge to enable the development of latency-sensitive applications. The partnership will meanwhile involve expanding the Cloudera Enterprise AI Ecosystem.

Cloudera MD for Australia and New Zealand Kier Garrett said local organisations will benefit from the approach. “As Australian organisations use AI to generate insights, automate decisions, and capture institutional knowledge, the intelligence created from enterprise data is becoming a core strategic asset in its own right. As a result, maintaining control of that intelligence has become just as important as maintaining control over the data itself,” he said.

“Our partnership with Mistral helps organisations keep both their data and their AI within a trusted, governed environment — giving them greater control over how AI is deployed, the intelligence it creates, and the economics of scaling it. As expectations around resilience, transparency and accountability continue to grow, that control is becoming increasingly critical.”

Deloitte estimates that more than 80% of Australian organisations view sovereign AI as important to their strategic planning.
